STUDIO ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
{Part-time | 8 – 15 hours/week **subject to change depending on the season.}
Customer Service: Sales
- Sell | Upsell workshops, birthday parties, camps, field trips, private & semi-private events, promotions, custom artwork, and pottery-to-go.
- Have a thorough understanding of our product offerings, studio hours, website and studio policies as well as owner’s philosophy. [will train]
Customer Service: Support
- Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs to have a positive experience at Walls of Clay.
- Possess the skills required to provide great customer service; patience, attentiveness, clear communication skills, knowledge of the product, ability to use “positive language,” time-management, and ability to “read” a customer and their needs.
- Ability to problem-solve and be a hero. This includes troubleshooting, investigating for further information and following up with management and the customer.
Operations: Front of House
- Responsible for completion of opening and closing activities as well as activities throughout the day to maintain studio operations. [Will train]
- Cleanliness and organization of studio; clean bathroom, vacuum, sweep, wash pottery brushes and supplies, dust and take the garbage out.
- Work with parties and groups of all ages from children’s birthday parties to adult fundraising. Able to instruct, manage time and support the customer experience. [Will train]
- Inventory; correctly identify, invoice and describe inventory pieces, level shelves, re-stock and unpack shipments.
- Accurately quote and take custom artwork orders. [Will train]
- A thorough understanding and ability to teach a dozen + pottery painting techniques, glass fusing, and wine glass painting. [will train]
- Work with families to take handprints and footprints on pottery. [Will train]
Operations: Back of House [will train after introductory 90-day period]
- Kiln work; unload and load kilns. [Will train]
- Glaze work; measure viscosity and apply overglaze to pottery. [Will train]
- Glass fusing; cut and stock glass bases. [Will train]
